WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO WORSHIP GOD?

Through many years of ministry, I have been asked this question by Christians and Non-Christians as well.

What does it mean to Worship God?

I need to answer this question as if both Christians and Non-Christians are reading this writing.

I want to be sensitive to those who are Christians, but we as Christians need to be sensitive to those who are searching for something real. Those who have not found God, but are desperately seeking for Him.

I hope this writing creates a hunger inside your spirit and helps you find God. May you experience God and discover Him as your Lord and Savior, then you too can Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Read on!

We all worship something, but it is not always God! Ouch!

It is the God nature in us that seeks to Worship Him, our Creator!

Unless we surrender our life to Him, and repent of our wicked ways, we will substitute our Worship to Him for something self-serving.

It seems every time I respond to the question (What does it mean to Worship God?), I give a different answer. Hum...
Then I realized I am discovering God in Worship, so my answer is going from one dimension to another in God! My lifestyle of Worship causes me to see a whole new dimension of God. This excites me to no end! I love to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth! Amen!

Let me first say that this Website could not contain the full meaning of Worship! Worship is meeting God and conversing with Him, with a passion to know all about Him! How much does He know? How many questions can you ask God? How many dimensions are in God? How much time would it take to discover God? Just one of His names (Elohim) Creator - The God who creates, could never be fully discovered. Just when you thought you had everything about God listed and labeled, He would create something else. Well I guess you get the picture.

So let us discover what we can now, and He will reveal more and more of Himself as we Worship Him

Worship is the defining moment when we realize that the all we are, and everything we have, equals nothing without God.
Worship is the Gateway into God's Courtyard, where we discover our Destiny and Purpose for our life. It's a place where we are given the assurance of His faithfulness to complete everything He has promised.
Worship is the meeting place of our becoming one with God. Worship is the place where we abide in Him and He abides in us. This is where we become impregnated with Purpose and Destiny for our life.

Worship should never become a place to exalt self.
The opportunity to Worship was not given to us so man could use its collective power and influence to build his own kingdom! Our Worship should be to lift up the name of Jesus and exalt God! Worship was given to us so we would have an outlet or opportunity to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

When Worship focuses on protecting one's social status then Worship to God has been forfeited! Worship is abused or misused when the Power of God's Presence is exchanged or compromised for Religiosity. This is where self is exalted. If a Worship Service disallows participation from people who have not met some religious standard or sophistication, then the very essence of Worship has been lost and its purpose is defeated. Such legalistic attitudes can never release God's love to minister to broken and hurting people.

Worship invades God's enemies and scatters them in their own confusion.
(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

* (Ephesians 5:18-21) And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

* Paul understands the importance of having a lifestyle of walking in the spirit when he said, "I will sing with the Spirit and also with understanding" (1 Cor. 14:15).

In Acts 16:25-34 The bondage of the Philippian dungeon was shattered: and as a result, salvation came to the jailer's household.
Paul's song caused the prison doors to swing open. You can cause the bondage that you are living in to swing open its gates and release you from the confinement you are living in!

The results of Worship, reveals God's Presence and is manifested or made known to man.
It is in the reverence of Worship that makes us aware of our sins, and causes us to repent.
Worship brings blessings upon those who choose to obey His Commandment to Worship.
Remember (Acts 16:25-34) Paul and Silas were set free, the bondage of the Philippian dungeon was shattered: and as a result salvation came to the jailer's household. I would call that a blessing!

The results of resisting worship equals barrenness.

God seeks to and fro for those who will worship Him in Spirit and Truth.
To resist worship is to restrict life! Remember, Micah's unrepentant attitude towards her husband's worship left her barren for the rest of her life. In Biblical Times, it was considered a curse if one could not bare children. To resist worship, is to restrict life. Think of the barrenness in the lives of some Christians! Is it because they have resisted Worship? Think about that for a moment. If one refuses to worship God, there is no foundation for life. We Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. We live by the Spirit. How can we not Worship, or resist Worship if God's Spirit is in us?
He came that we might have life more abundantly, but we must first worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This is the foundation of walking into another dimension in God. The deep things of God are discovered in His Spirit.

I pray you discover what it is to Worship God, In Spirit and In Truth.

In His Rest,
Prophet Rick Fultz
